Kickstarter Weekly - June 5, 2014
/Well, another week has blurred past and is growing increasingly smaller in the rearview mirror, so let's take a second to dig around board gaming's favorite crowd-funding site, and see what's out there that might be of any interest. That's right, it's another installment of Kickstarter Weekly
Featured Campaign!
The Official Seafarers of Catan Board - Bill Trammel
This campaign is being run by the same folks who brought you the Official Settlers of Catan Board. A high quality and snazzy solid board that locks in your tiles and components so when your table gets bumped or you need to shift things to make room for game-night snackage, everything stays in place and you don't have to rely on the last picture the weirdo of your group instagrammed of the board to try and get things set up again. I mean, who does that?
The Seafarers version is modular and you can pledge for an 8-module set for 3-4 players or add 3 more for the 5-6 player version, and it uses the same locking technology as the original. It's a clever design for those who are into Catan!

Beowolf: A Board Game - King Post
King Post, who successfully founded and brought to market last year's card game iteration of Moby Dick, is once again bringing a literary classic to the table top with Beowolf: A Board Game. The team is exploring not just the poem and story of Beowolf, but the surrounding Anglo-Saxon age and culture. Gamers will make strategic decisions and try to preserve their legacy as time marches on and the game draws to a close. The game is driven by two decks of cards that give the players abilities, resources, and adversaries to defeat. While most of what we see on the campaign page is in prototype stages, the previews are shaping up nicely and have a great style to them. This one is definitely worth a look!

Copper Country the Board Game: Life, Work, Profit, Death - CMX Games
Copper Country is a copper-mining game set in the upper peninsula of Michigan. Players are mining for copper, and as they do so the supply in certain areas depletes, but as the supply depletes businesses and other attributes are made available, opening up new eras in Copper Country. The game designers are "UP-ers" read "Yoo-pers," and seem to have infused some unique game mechanics into a resource-management/economic/industry game. They've funded, and there isn't much time to get in on this, so take a look if it sounds interesting!
