Fantasy Flight: Reprinting Tigris & Euphrates--Plus, Launching a New Line?

A mysterious image emerged last week, hinting at a few new things coming from Fantasy Flight.

First, the image appears to be the cover of a new edition of the classic Reiner Knizia game Tigris & Euphrates (T&E). The last company to own rights to T&E was Mayfair, but it's been out of print for a while. Apparently Fantasy Flight has the rights now.

In case you've never heard of it, T&E is a meaty tile-laying game where you're using the power of farmers, traders, priests, and kings to gain influence and points. What it's perhaps best known for is the ingenious scoring mechanism, wherein you're scoring in four different colors throughout the game, but your final score is the number of points you have in your weakest color. So you can't just pound one or two colors: You have to diversify.

The other thing to note about this image is the "Euro Classics" badge in the corner of the cover. This implies a new line coming from Fantasy Flight that 1) prints Euros, which Fantasy Flight isn't as well know for, and 2) will work to keep Euros considered "classics" in print.

Fantasy Flight has been quiet about the image, and there are rumblings that the image wasn't supposed to be released yet. But it's creating a lot of buzz, so even if it was a mistake, it seems to be working out for Fantasy Flight.

If we get any news about this Euro Classics line, we'll let you know. In the meantime, it's great to hear that this great game will once again be available. What other out-of-print games would you like to see from a Euro Classics line? Let us know in the comments. And thanks for reading!
