Kickstarter Weekly - May 22, 2014
Hey everyone! So here we are on the verge of a long weekend, which hopefully means lots of gaming with friends and family for all. But as we look even further into the gaming future let's take a look at some hopeful new games that are kicking their way into the market place via Kickstarter... see what I did there?
Featured Campaign
Dungeon Dice: GUILDS - Potluck Games
Dungeon Dice successfully Kickstarted last year as an adventure game played entirely with dice. Players face baddies, find treasure, and, you know, epic hero-type stuff. Well Potluck Games is back with an expansion to the Kickstarter hit, with Dungeon Dice: GUILDS and apparently you all can't get enough! The meager funding goal has been smashed through with 28 days left in the campaign and there have already been a TON of stretch goals unlocked with a good many left to achieve--and there's no reason to think they won't be unlocked, too. This campaign is worth checking out simply for the witty video; BUT you should check out the game too. If you already have the base game, the expansion is pretty reasonable; if you don't have the original, you can bundle it up with the expansion and some cool Kickstarter exclusives as well!

Pocket Odyssey - Anthony Sato
Pocket Odyssey claims to be the first ever micro RPG... ever. While we've seen other games claim such things as a "lunch time dungeon crawl" -Dungeon Heroes- Pocket Odyssey appears to be a more pure RPG-style game that features super fast character creation, on-the-fly story creation, and, of course, lots of looting and slaying of monsters in dungeons and other perilous places. There's an expansion that you can get a hold of for some extra cash, but the base game is pretty affordable. We don't usually cover much in the RPG realm, but this one is intriguing and we feel is definitely worth a look.

Asking for Trobils - Kraken Games
In this uniquely themed worker-placement game for 2-5 players, your goal is to travel around a star system to rid a planet of troublesome Trobils, giant alien creatures that are wreaking havoc on a very peaceful and very orange planet. You'll do so by sending your ships about to acquire traps and bait, and then set them to capture Trobils and score points. The publisher claims the game can be played in about 60-90 minutes and is super easy to learn. There are even children shown playing the game in the campaign video. This one looks fun and light and like a great introduction into the world of worker-placement games.

MST3K Guys Bringing GODZILLA '98 to Cinemas in Rifftrax Live - Rifftrax: Mike, Bill & Kevin
Okay, this isn't a game, or game related at all. But it is Rifftrax, and needless to say we have a lot of respect for the work Mike, Kevin, and Bill do--did we mention we interviewed Mike here on TOG a while back? Anyway, we also have no deep love for the Hollywood turd that is the 1998 iteration of Godzilla, so if we can do our small part to help the guys skewer it in front of a live national audience, well, we're all for it! There are all sorts of pledge levels, which come with all sorts of cool free stuff, exclusive content, and downloads. So go head on over and check it out!
